Iranian MP Urges for Expansion of Ties with Bulgaria
The Bulgarian Post 2007-04-26 10:15:32 Head of Iranian Parliamentary Commission for National Security and Foreign Policy Alaeddin Boroujerdi in a meeting with the speaker of Bulgarian Parliament Georgi Pirinski underlined the decisive role of the two parliaments in expansion of mutual relations. According to a report released by Iranian Embassy in Sofia on Tuesday night, he urged he need to strengthen interparliamentary cooperation and announced Majlis support for bolstering of such bonds, IRNA news agency reported. Turning to Iran-Austria $30 billion agreement on export of Iran's gas to Europe, he said that the decision of Austrian officials to sign such a document shows their will to secure their long-term interests. "Given that Bulgaria is situated on the route of Iran-Austria gas pipeline, the project provides Bulgaria with a golden opportunity for cooperation," he said. Considering the present critical condition of Afghanistan and Iraq, he expounded on the Middle East developments and pointed to Iran's basic views on solving these crises. Congratulating Bulgaria's membership in the European Union, he said that Iran's policy is also based on strengthening its relations with EU. The MP also briefed Pirinski on Iran's nuclear activities for peaceful purposes and said, "Given that our policy is based on confidence building and transparency, its nuclear sites are open to International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors, all foreign envoys and reporters." On his part, Pirinski stressed the importance of Iran-Bulgaria relations considering the capacities of both sides, particularly in the economic field. About Iran's nuclear activities, he underlined the right of Iranian nation to access nuclear technology and stressed the importance of the next report of IAEA chief on Iran and the talks between SNSC Secretary Ali Larijani and EU Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana. Meanwhile, he declared his country's will for solving Iran's nuclear problem. Lauding Iran's role in campaign against narcotic drugs, he urged that the EU should not leave Iran alone in such a campaign. |
