Bulgaria's former Premier Simeon Saxe-Coburg has met his Italian lawyer over a recent corruption scandal, according to reports. Giandomenico Caiazza has said that the case was "absurd," and that it was hard to sort out against what exact accusation Saxe-Coburg needed to be defended.
Italian justice officials should consider his case separately from charges against Prince Victor Emmanuel and his business friend Pierpaolo Cerani, Caiazza has said, according to Gazzetta del Sud as cited by Bulgaria's Darik radio on Monday.
The corruption scandal broke out in mid-June, when Italy's last Prince Victor Emmanuel was arrested for suspected corruption and relations with the Mafia.
Police also suspected the royalty and businessman Cerani of bribing Saxe-Coburg in order to get a project for building a medical center in Bulgaria.
