Promoted premier league side Spartak Varna are among seven teams who have failed to meet licensing criteria to play in next season's domestic championship, the Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) said on Wednesday.
Spartak Varna, five second division teams and one third division side did not meet the conditions because most of them have owe money to the National Insurance Institute, football players and private persons, the BFU's Licensing Commission chief Krasin Krustev said.
'These clubs have to pay their debts in the next seven days and provide proof,' Krustev added.
The Balkan country's clubs, many of whom face considerable infrastructure difficulties, are struggling to meet administrative, legal and financial conditions set by UEFA.
'All these teams, who had their league licence revoked, have enough time to clear their liabilities,' BFU official Mihail Kasabov said. 'But if they can't do that we'll expel them from the league. We will not compromise.'
Last season, Pirin Blagoevgrad were expelled from the premier league over unpaid taxes.
