Transport, environment and energy are the primary sectors to make use of EUR 5 B under various projects.
They will be invested until 2009, during the first period of implementation of the National Strategy for Integrated Development of Bulgarian Infrastructure, Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev said at a public discussion on Wednesday.
Thus, until 2009, a total of EUR 4 B is planned for pouring into transport infrastructure (road and railroad), EUR 1.369 B will be allotted for environmental projects and another EUR 50 M for the improvement of the energy infrastructure.
Amid strong interest from both media and interested parties, the premier and Cabinet ministers moderated the discussion and answered many questions.
They explained the Strategy provides for a second stage, from 2009 until 2015, of project implementation at the cost of EUR 7.477 B, including EUR 5 B for infrastructure and EUR 2 B in environment.
Prime Minister Stanishev stressed on the importance of finding larger application for public-private partnerships in this process.
