| First European Elections Held in Bulgaria |
According to the exit-poll results, the ruling Socialist Party (BSP) and new party GERB, led by the Mayor of Sofia Boyko Borisov, received very close results. The turnout, however, was very low. Only 22 per cent of the 6.7 million registered voters showed up to cast ballots for Bulgaria's first elections for the European Parliament.

Two police officers from Bulgaria's Southwestern town Petrich received an award by the chief of the Regional Police Department commissioner Konstantin Tityanov for refusing a 10,000 euro bribe.
